Julia Weatherley is at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, studying under Alison Wells. She is honoured to be a TCM trust and Drapers de Turqheim Scholar. Recent performances include singing Pamina in the
Magic Flute (Mozart) for Trinity Laban Conservatoire opera scenes and the
Witch in Hansel and Gretel (Humperdink) for Opera Holloway. She is also undertaking the mentor scheme at the Royal Opera House and working towards performances at the Buxton Festival, and for the Drapers Company. She recently
performed as soloist with the Royal Holloway Philharmonic Orchestra singing Berlioz’s, ‘Les Nuits D’été’, where she has just finished her MMus studies supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council as well as being the concerto award winner. Receiving a first class honours degree from University of York, studying voice with Lynne Dawson, she won the concerto award and was kindly invited on tour with the orchestra as the soprano soloist.
With a diverse taste in music she has recently performed for International Women’s day at the Royal Festival Hall, and performed John Cage works at his installation at the Hayward Gallery. She has performed solo items for the BBC Christmas day broadcasts as well as performances with the Kings Consort, at London Fashion week, Chelsea Arts Club, at the Irish Embassy, The Duke’s Hall, David Josefowitz Hall. With a great passion for new music she regularly works with composers and has sang the premiere of Alex Thomas’ orchestration of Vaughn Williams’ ‘House of Life’, for the first filmed recording as the title role in Henry Molicone’s ‘The Face on the Barroom floor’, and for new opera adventures at the Tete a tete opera festival. She has participated in masterclasses with numerous world-class musicians including Dame Felicity Lott, Rosalinde Plowright, Lillian Watson, Dame Emma Kirby, and Dame Janet Baker.
With a passion for choral singing she has been awarded the Royal Schools of Church Music top award, the St. Cecilia’s medal. In addition to this a RSCM scholarship. She has have sung in Christ Church Cathedral, Magdalen College Chapel and Queens College Chapel, in Oxford, Dorchester Abbey, Bath Abbey and Westminster Abbey.
She also take great pleasure at singing at Weddings, corporate events, Opera themed evenings and other private events.
